OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE SANTA MARIA COLLEGE BOARD

Now accepting expressions of interest to join the Santa Maria College Board as a Director

Given the purpose and responsibilities of the Board, people with the following backgrounds/ competencies are particularly sought as Directors:

          • Building / Architecture / Project management

          • Finance / Accounting

          • Education leadership

          • Legal / Governance/ Compliance management/ Risk management

          • Industrial relations

It is important to recognize that Directors, as well as having some core competency as listed above, need an understanding of the ethos of Catholic education and are able to understand how this ethos has a fundamental impact on the decision making of the Board.

It is also necessary that a potential director have experience in decision making at an appropriate level.  It is important to note that the Board does not have any involvement with the day-to-day operations of the College. Operational decisions are the responsibility of the Principal and the College Leadership Team. Thus the competencies sought for the Board are for decision making at a (governance) high level.

To register your interest in attending an information meeting with the Chair of Board and Principal, please contact the Principal’s Personal Assistant, Catherine de Medici via email:

catherine.demedici@santamaria.vic.edu.au

If after initial discussion and discernment, you desire to move forward, you will be asked to provide a resume and the names of referees to Good Samaritan Education where your name will be placed on a register of potential Directors.
