The Assessment and Reporting process is designed to support learning and teaching at the College, while nurturing and supporting students so that they may develop to their full potential and become productive global citizens. Processes around assessment and reporting provide staff with guidance to ensure consistency across all disciplines, levels and programs within the College. Processes and expectations to plan for and measure student progress are articulated, ensuring that any feedback to the community is able to be evidenced and is aligned to the educational goals of the College’s strategic intent. Authentic assessment in which students are asked to perform real world tasks that demonstrate meaningful application of essential knowledge and skills is promoted.

The purpose of assessment is to achieve improved student learning and deep understanding. This requires a range of assessment practices to be used and is largely divided into two main categories through the inclusion of both formative and summative assessment items.
